A violent Level 3 sex offender was arrested on rape charges in Brighton. James Pascalar, 63, is accused of sexually assaulting an 83-year-old woman. Police say Pascalar was hired to do work at her home. Pascalar is listed on the New York State Sex Offender Registry as a Level 3 Sex Offender. Pascalar was convicted of raping a 71-year-old woman in Wayne County. He was sentenced to 21 years in state prison. Pascalar is charged with third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sex act for the recent assault. He is being held in the Monroe County Jail without bail. Police are looking into whether there are other suspects in the case. Chief Henderson said police are asking for anyone who has information on Pascalar, his activities or whereabouts to contact Sgt.
