The New York State Public Service Commission has approved a settlement with the parent company of Spectrum Cable, over broadband internet expansion.
The PSC last year ordered Charter Communications to stop doing business in the state because it failed to build out its broadband internet service into rural areas as fast as it promised. Under the settlement, Charter will extend high-speed internet to 145,000 new homes and businesses in Upstate New York, and will pay an additional $12 million to expand broadband service to additional areas.
The expansion is to be completed in two years.
