Police Release Body Camera Video in Christopher Pate Arrest

The city has released body-worn camera footage from the arrest of Christopher Pate in May 2018. Pate was arrested in what was later determined to be a case of mistaken identity. Pate said, despite showing ID, he was handcuffed, beaten and had a stun gun used against him. One of the Rochester Police Officer's involved was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and later fired. A grand jury did not indict Sippel’s partner, Spenser McAvoy. The new footage includes the officers talking to Pate in the back of a police car and Pate at the hospital, where he was treated for a facial fracture.
