The City of Rochester may be settling on a more modest plan for redevelopment of Parcel 5 on Main Street.
After a number of development plans were floated, Mayor Lovely Warren is now asking City Council to approve a $4.7 million grant application to turn Parcel 5 into a downtown performance venue.
City officials say what they have is a concept, not a detailed plan. They want a visitor center with bathrooms, a canopy over the lot, green space, permanent stage lighting and a marquee for the space. It would cost about $23 million.
The city says redevelopment of the land into a performance park is probably two years away.
