The state legislature is sending the governor legislation decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana.
Having an ounce or less would result in a fine of up to 50 dollars, and having between one and two ounces could lead to a penalty up to 200 dollars. Those offenses would no longer be considered misdemeanors.
The bill also would expunge the records of those with certain misdemeanor marijuana related records or charges.
