Increase in Water Outflow from Lake Ontario Considered

The Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board says it's talking about taking the outflow from Lake Ontario higher than it's ever been to provide some relief to property owners along the lakeshore. But they say the high water levels on Lake Ontario will continue for the next several weeks.

The board currently has the outflow from the Moses-Saunders Dam at more than 367,000 cubic feet of water per second. That's the maximum reached during the floods of 2017 and the record high amount. The board says it's communicating with shipping, power and downstream property owners before it decides on taking the outflow even higher.
