Rush Henrietta Student Charged with Making Threat to School

A 19-year-old Rush Henrietta High School Student has been charged with making a terrorist threat after an investigation into a social media post.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says Shamir Broyld posted on social media that he had thoughts about shooting up a school. Several people who saw the post came forward and alerted authorities.

Deputies went to the Broyld home and spoke with his family, learning that Broyld did not have access to any weapons. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation. He's being held on $2,500 bail after being arraigned in Henrietta Town Court.

Students and staff at Rush Henrietta were not in any danger, but the Monroe County Sheriff's Office stationed deputies at the school and the Webster Learning Center just in case.

The sheriff's office says Broyld will receive services, and the school district and his family are involved in his case to manage any potential threat.
