Lake Ontario Hits New Record High

Lake Ontario has now topped 249 feet, now at its all-time record high. And the International Lake Ontario-St Lawrence River Board says it will continue rising over the next several days.

The board says Lake Ontario should hit this year's peak in another one-to-three weeks, probably rising another one-to-three inches. The board says the amount of rise depends on the weather. They increased the outflow from Lake Ontario twice over the weekend, and are now sending more than 332,000 cubic feet per second down the St. Lawrence.

The high lake levels mean even today's moderate northwest winds can bring water flooding the shorline. The National Weather Service has us under a Lake Flood Warning until 8:00 Tuesday morning.
