The historic building in Rochester's Corn Hill neighborhood that caught fire yesterday morning has been demolished because of the heavy damage it sustained. The cause is under investigation.
The building on South Plymouth Avenue housed the Career Start Workforce Management Group. A passing Monroe County Deputy spotted the flames and raised the alarm. Firefighters arrived to find the building engulfed in flame and heavy smoke spreading across the neighborhood. Parts of the roof and the chimneys fell in, forcing firefighters to get out of the building and fight the flames from outside.
Career Start says on its Facebook page it was lucky nobody was in the building at the time, and its business is web-based so it can keep operating from alternate quarters (13 WHAM Photo).
