Driver Going to Prison After Hit and Run

A Rochester man is going to prison for one-to-three years after he pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious physical injury.

The Monroe County District Attorney's Office says 26-year-old Carl Amesbury was driving a pickup truck down Chili Avenue last October when he struck a person riding a bicycle. Amesbury didn't slow down or stop, although his truck dragged the bicycle for several blocks.

The rider suffered traumatic brain injury and several skull fractures. Tips to the Crimestoppers Hotline helped police track Amesbury down, and he was indicted earlier this year.
