NYSEG and RG&E Asking Regulators for Increase in Delivery Rates

The delivery price for your electricity could be headed higher.

NYSEG is asking regulators for a 23.7 percent increase in delivery rates, adding roughly $10 a month to typical bills. And RG&E is seeking a 5.4 percent increase, adding just under $3 to the average bill.

And both utilities are asking for a rate increase for natural gas -- amounting to about a dollar or a dollar-and-a-half a month.

The state Public Service Commission will schedule public hearings on the rate requests.
