The U.S. Senate has confirmed a former State Assemblywoman as the next U.S. co-chair of the International Joint Commission -- the agency that regulates the water level on the Great Lakes.
Jane Corwin represented parts of Niagara and Erie Counties in the Assembly, and is familiar with the concerns of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie shoreline property owners.
The Senate also confirmed two new IJC commissioners -- Robert Sisson and Lance Yohe.
The votes fill the vacant U.S. seats on the commission.
Senator Schumer is calling on the Canadian Parliament to approve Canada's IJC members so the commission has a quorum.
