State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie says the Assembly will move ahead on legislation granting drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.
Democrats have named it the Green Light Bill, and Heastie says he will work to explain how it will be good for the economy and public safety.
Two months remain in the state legislative session.
The bill has strong support in the Assembly, but could face a tougher battle in the Senate. Democrats control both chambers.
