Plans are in the works for a solar power project covering five square miles in Rush and Caledonia. The Horseshoe Solar Project would be spread over 3,800 acres of private land, including 300 acres leased from Stokoe Farms.
The solar panel array reportedly would produce enough power for 40,000 homes.
Planners say a few homes would be within sight of the panels but tall hedges would shield them from view.
The permitting process is expected to take about two years, and construction would take more than a year.
