Seneca Falls Man Admits to Killing 3-Year-Old Stepson

The Seneca Falls man accused of killing his three-year-old stepson almost one year ago pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder. The plea came just hours before Donald Bovio's trial was scheduled to begin in Seneca County Court. Bovio claimed his son fell down the stairs at their apartment. Investigators say Bovio beat his stepson, Peter Stephanides-Vacchino with a belt, causing the victim's head to hit a hard floor. Peter died several days later at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. The toddler’s mother, Alison Bovio, pleaded guilty last October to a manslaughter charge for her role in his death and agreed to testify against her husband. She faces 4-to-12 years in prison when sentenced later this month. Bovio will get 15 years in prison when he is sentenced.
