New York's Public Service Commission and the parent company of Spectrum Cable have come to a settlement of their dispute over high-speed internet expansion.
The PSC last year ordered Charter Communications to stop doing business in New York State because it failed to build out its broadband internet service into rural areas of the state as fast as it promised. Under the agreement announced this afternoon (Fri), Charter will extend high-speed internet to 145,000 new homes and businesses entirely in Upstate New York. The expansion is to be completed by September 30th, 2021, and charter will pay $12 million to move the work forward.
The agreement needs to be approved by the Commission's trustees.
