Woman Rescued from Genesee River

A suicidal woman is getting help after she defied Rochester police and jumped from the Ford Street Bridge into the Genesee River. It happened late Saturday night.

City firefighters were already on the scene, and a water rescue team was able to reach her 400 yards downstream.

She was pulled to shore and turned over to medical first responders for treatment.

The Fire Department says the water temperature was 49 degrees at the time and the woman appeared to be suffering from hypothermia.
