Jury Finds Leticia Astacio "Not Guilty"

Former Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio has been found not guilty of attempted criminal purchase of a weapon. The jury delivered its verdict in a Syracuse courtroom, where Astacio was tried for attempting to purchase a shotgun while she was on probation.

Astacio broke down, crying in the courtroom after the verdict was read.

Prosecutors had accused Astacio of trying to buy a shotgun last year, knowing that it was a violation of her probation. Her defense argued that she was unaware of that condition and that she did not, in fact, buy the weapon because clerks at Dick's Sporting Goods refused to sell it to her.

Jurors asked to have details read back to them about the sequence of events in both Dicks Sporting Goods that Astacio visited.
