Legislation Calls for Establishment of a Maternal Mortality Review Board

The board would have the authority to closely examine the mortality rate of women in New York who died while pregnant or after just giving birth. The board would develop strategies to prevent those deaths.

The legislation would also establish an advisory council that may review the findings of the board and develop recommendations.

New York ranks 30th out of 50 states in its maternal death rate.
