New Legislation Passed for Installed Cameras on School Buses

The New York State Assembly has passed a measure to install safety cameras on school buses. The legislation would allow municipalities to put safety cameras on school buses with the capability of capturing video of vehicles that ignore the flashing red lights and stop sign. Under current law, a ticket for illegally passing a stopped school bus displaying a red visual signal can only be issued by a police officer who witnesses the violation.
