Rochester and Monroe County are making emergency preparations for this coming Sunday....when strong winds are expected to hit Western New York.
City and county authorities say they're preparing for potential power outages, electrical fire and other hazards on Sunday....and they're asking people to get their homes ready by bringing in debris or loose objects that may be on their properties. They're advising citizens to have flashlights and other emergency supplies ready by Sunday afternoon.
Utility companies are gearing up for the strong winds. NYSEG’s and RG&E’s storm readiness teams have prepared crews and equipment, and Saturday they will pre-stage equipment to respond to downed power lines and potential power interruptions.
The Companies have also secured additional contract line and tree crews that are being staged across the western portions of their service areas beginning on Saturday.
