Lake Ontario Water Level Highest Since Winter 2017, Dinolfo Urges Action

Winter is when the water levels are at their lowest, but this year they're approaching the same levels as the winter of 2017. Heavy rains and snow melt caused record high water levels and flooding all along the lake coast that spring.

Cheryl Dinolfo says regulators haven't learned from two years ago.

The International Lake Ontario - St. Lawrence River Board says Lake Ontario is more than 14 inches above average for this time of year. They say the outflow down the St. Lawrence River is being kept near maximum already, but it has room to go higher if the waters keep rising.
