RTS Considering "On-Demand" Bus Service

The Regional Transit Service hopes that by some time in 2020, customers on some suburban routes will be able to call or text for a ride on an RTS bus.

RTS is looking at on-demand service to replace some of its fixed routes. Spokesman Tom Brede tells 13 WHAM you would request a bus at a certain time, and be picked up and dropped off within an easy walk of your destination. He says on-demand ride apps are making a revolutionary change in the transportation industry, and RTS has to move with the times or be left behind.

Some areas would be served by smaller buses under on-demand service. It's part of the Reimagine RTS program to overhaul the bus system.
