Rochester police say they and firefighters were able to rescue a dog that fell off the Charlotte Beach pier into Lake Ontario.
The 120-pound Malamute named Oliver was spotted in the water about halfway down the pier.
The rescuers were able to get the dog closer to the pier, where animal control used a catchpole to grab him.
The dog was taken to the owner's veterinarian. It's believed he was in the water at least 45 minutes.
