Men Caught Passing Counterfeit in Geneseo

The Livingston County Sheriff says two Buffalo-area residents have been charged with forgery after they tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at the Wegmans store in Geneseo.

Sheriff Tom Dougherty says store employees got a vehicle description and deputies located that car on Route 20A near the I-390 ramps. It was stopped on 390 and the two men inside were arrested. Elijah Davis and Tawan Davis are both 22 years old.

Investigators found both men had been to the Geneseo Wegmans several times with fake hundreds, trying to use them for small purchases to get real money in change. They had ten additional counterfeit bills and $2,500 in legitimate currency, which deputies seized.
