New Year's Fireworks Back on For Downtown Rochester

A Penfield engineer and architect who started his career as an engineer for the City of Rochester has donated the cost of the annual New Year's Eve fireworks to the city.

The gift from Om and Swadesh Popli means there will be a fireworks show downtown on New Year's Eve, starting at 9:00 p.m. The city had decided to take a pass on the fireworks show this year because of declining attendance, and because it wanted to put the money into the downtown ROC Christmas show at Martin Luther King Park.

The rest of the downtown family New Year will go on as usual including events at the Convention Center and free skating at Manhattan Square.
