Harris Corporation in Rochester has been awarded a $195 million contract to help build NASA's next flagship space telescope -- the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope. Senator Schumer says Harris’ Rochester workforce is building key components, and the contract will help safeguard 160 jobs in Rochester.
Last month, Schumer visited Harris to advocate for funding for the telescope in a pending appropriations bill. Schumer says the telescope will study dark energy and look for planets around distant stars.
