Murder Trial Set to Begin in Waterloo Double Homicide Case

A trial is about to start in Seneca County for Emerson “John” Tohafjian -- the man charged in the July murders of his ex-girlfriend and her friend in Waterloo.

Tohafjian is accused of shooting and killing Lori McConnell and Charlie Andrus at an apartment on Virginia Avenue. A third person, Karen Zdunko, was wounded. Prosecutors say Tohafjian hid in the bushes outside the apartment house until the victims returned home from a night out. He was arrested at a campground in Phelps.

A judge will hear pre-trial motions today before the start of jury selection.
