Marker at Site of Abolitionist Frederick Douglass' First Home in Rochester

There is now a marker at the site of abolitionist Frederick Douglass' first home in Rochester. Mayor Warren and Douglass' descendants unveiled the marker this morning at 297 Alexander Street -- the parking lot next to the Lanai restaurant.

The marker was funded by the Pomeroy Foundation -- a nonprofit that erects markers in historically significant locations.
