Former State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos Faces Sentencing Today

Former State Senate majority leader Dean Skelos faces sentencing today for his convictions on bribery, fraud and extortion charges.

In 2015, both Skelos and his son Adam were first found guilty of corruption and sentenced to prison, but those convictions were overturned due to a change in the law.

Prosecutors say the elder Skelos deserves more than the five years he was given following the first conviction, arguing that he provided misleading testimony to the jury while on trial.  Meanwhile, his attorney says Skelos deserves only two years.
