Work Begins on East Ave. in Parts of Brighton and Pittsford

Work has begun to reduce East Avenue from four lanes to two in parts of Brighton and Pittsford.

Crews will resurface the stretch between Highland Avenue and the St. John Fisher campus. They will add a center turn lane and widen the shoulders.

The state transportation department says reducing the travel lanes will make the road safer and reduce crashes. The project is expected to be finished by next summer.
