Homeland Security Exercise Today in Monroe Co.

Several agencies will be taking part in a homeland security exercise today in Monroe County.

County officials say residents may notice increased law enforcement presence in some areas through eight o’clock tonight. The Sheriff’s Office and the Rochester Police Department will take part in the exercise along with the Monroe County Office of Emergency Management, the Emergency Communications Department and Public Safety Communications.

The organizations will be practicing responses to a variety of mock terroristic events across Monroe County.

The drill is standard procedure and won't take precedent over real emergencies.
