A Rochester police officer who was killed in the line of duty four years ago is being honored with a monument in his hometown.
A local artist designed the monument honoring Officer Daryl Pierson. A dedication ceremony took place today at 10 a.m., at the Eyer Building Complex on Main Street in East Rochester.
Pierson was shot and killed while chasing a parolee who was suspected in a robbery. The gunman is now serving life in prison.
