Police: Man Jumped Into Canal to Get Rid of Drugs

New York State Police say a Lyons man tried to get rid of his cocaine stash by jumping into the Erie Canal. Troopers say Eddie Murphy, 36, of Lyons ran away from them on Wednesday during a traffic stop on Route 31 in Lyons. Police say Murphy jumped into the Erie Canal. He was eventually arrested. Murphy is being held in Wayne County Jail without bail.
