Rochester, NY -- The Monroe County Sheriff's Office and the state corrections commission are investigating the death of an inmate at the county jail.
The woman was found Tuesday afternoon hanging from a bed sheet attached to the bars of her cell. Deputies cut her down and medical personnel revived her with CPR, but she died Wednesday night at Strong Hospital.
In the four years ending last December, there were 13 inmate deaths in the county lockups -- 8 by natural causes, 4 suicides and 1 homicide.
