Rochester, NY -- Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren wants to sell two downtown parking garages, and lease a third, to raise cash for the city.
Under the proposal, first reported by the D&C, the garage next to the Eastman Theatre and the Mortimer Street garage would be sold separately to private developers that already own property nearby.
The Genesee Crossroads Garage near the Holiday Inn would be leased to a third development group.
The deals would generate $10.4 million for the city right away, and put two of the garages on the tax rolls.
Parking rates would remain steady through the end of next year.
City Council members will consider the proposal later this month.
