Tops Markets says it will close ten under performing stores this fall as it works to emerge from bankruptcy protection.
The list of closing stores includes five in our area:
- 710 Lake Avenue in Rochester
- 175 North Winton Road in Rochester
- Pittsford-Palmyra Road in Fairport
- Forgham Street in Lyons
- Hamilton Street in Geneva
The others include two in Syracuse, and one each in Fulton, Elmira and Saranac Lake.
Fewer than 600 workers are at the affected stores. The company also says it has received court approval of its final agreement with the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.
The chain currently has 169 stores and says most are profitable.
