Dramatic dashcam footage has surfaced showing Boris and Sofia Gurman attempting to stop and disarm a gunman before a deadly attack at Bondi Beach. The video captures the couple's brave actions on Campbell Parade, just before the gunman opened fire at a Hanukkah event, killing at least 15 people.

Boris Gurman, 69, and his wife Sofia, 61, were longtime residents of Bondi. The footage shows Boris wrestling the attacker to the ground and seizing his weapon, while Sofia stood nearby. Tragically, the couple was among the first victims of the attack, which took place on Sunday (December 14).

The couple's actions have been widely praised for their bravery. Their family released a statement through 9News, saying, "While nothing can lessen the pain of losing Boris and Sofia, we feel an overwhelming sense of pride in their bravery and selflessness."

The Gurmans were set to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary in January. A GoFundMe page has been set up for their son, Alex Gurman, raising over $93,000 to support him.

The attack, believed to be motivated by Islamic State ideology, has prompted calls for stricter gun laws in Australia. The attackers had traveled to the Philippines for military-style training before the incident. Australian police are investigating these claims and the presence of Islamic State flags and improvised explosive devices found in the suspects' car.
