UPDATE: Rochester police say one person is in custody -- and the search is on for a second -- in a home invasion robbery. Officers responding overnight to 5 Eighth Street encountered the two robbers as they were about to getaway in a car parked around the corner on Wabash.
One was arrested in the car. The other ran off. When Officer Chris Schreier caught up to him, he broke free, and drove off with the patrol car, dragging Officer Schreier about 75 feet.
The patrol car was found later, along with a revolver, at Pershing and Rocket streets. Police are withholding the names of both suspects. Officer Schreier suffered scrapes and bruises. The robbery victim had been pistol-whipped.
