Another Republican who had expressed interest in running for Congress in the 27th District has changed his mind.
State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer says he is removing himself from consideration as a possible replacement for departing Congressman Chris Collins.
Republican leaders have been meeting for the last two weeks to find someone who might be able to replace Collins on the November election ballot. Collins suspended his campaign this month after his arrest on insider trading charges.
Democrats say they will sue to block a replacement from being placed on the ballot.
