U.S. Attorney's Office Files Civil Complaint Against Pittsford Psychiatrist

Federal authorities have filed papers to seize the assets of the Pittsford psychiatrist who was charged recently with health care fraud.

The U.S. Attorney's Office has filed a civil forfeiture complaint against Dr. Muhammad Cheema seeking more than $800,000 from three bank accounts, two cars, and Cheema's home.

Authorities allege the assets were obtained through fraud and were involved in money laundering. Cheema is facing charges for allegedly over-billing health insurance providers, billing for services he did not provide, and falsifying a certificate showing he was board certified.
