Senator Schumer Wants Awareness Campaign on Drowning Deaths Among Youth

With the summer heating up, Senator Chuck Schumer is calling on the Centers for Disease Control to come up with a campaign to help prevent drowning deaths among children.

Schumer says the number of fatal drownings has increased, with boys drowning at twice the rate of girls. The senator says three children die every day of drowning and it's the leading cause of death for children under five.

He wants the CDC to come up with an outreach campaign that better reaches the parents of toddlers about the dangers of being near pools or other bodies of water.
