Senator Schumer says makers of hard cider in New York are being squeezed by federal regulations.
Under current rules, hard cider with an alcohol content above 6.9 percent can't be sold in 12 ounce cans. The cideries say they have to use bottles, instead, and that costs more.
Schumer wants regulators to treat hard cider like beer, for packaging purposes. He spoke yesterday at a cidery in Wayne County.
