New speed limits are now in effect on many roads in the Town of Irondequoit.
The Town Board voted in April to lower the town speed limit on many roads to 30 miles per hour, while keeping it at 35 on most primary county and state roads.
The lower speed limit will apply primarily to side streets. And school speed zones will see speed limits reduced to 20 miles per hour, during school hours. Student Michael Lynch was struck and killed walking to school on Cooper Road last year.
