Another traffic change is coming next week along I-390 through the construction zone in Gates.
Starting next Monday, 390 southbound will be cut down to just two lanes between Lexington and Lyell Avenues. The lane restriction is for construction work on the new bridge carrying I-390 over Trolley Boulevard. It's part of the ongoing 390-490 interchange project.
The lane reduction will last for about two-and-a-half weeks. Once the work is done, road crews will move southbound traffic onto two temporary lanes for several more weeks, while the northbound lanes are cut down to two. But that won't come until July.
