Police in Canada have charged a Monroe County man with manslaughter after he allegedly shot and killed another member of his hunting party.
Quebec Provincial Police say it happened in the northwestern part of the province. They say John Tompkins of Mendon was in a hunting party that also included a man named Todd Herrington. Police say Tompkins shot Herrington Saturday, under circumstances that remain unclear.
They've charged Tompkins with manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death and negligent use of a firearm.
He was released on bail and ordered to be back in court in Quebec on August 27th.
