AMBER Alert Cancelled For Missing Sodus 1 Year Old

UPDATE (5/29/18)

New York State Police cancelled the AMBER Alert on Tuesday morning in the search for a missing 14-month-old boy.

UPDATE (5/25/18 5:40pm)

Multiple agencies are continuing to search a 350 acre farm in Sodus for 14-month-old Owen Hidalgo-Calderon, who's been missing for over a week.

Around 5 p.m. Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts addressed the media, and explained that while AMBER Alert was issued today, he does not have any evidence that an abduction occurred.

"As a grandfather and as a father...my heart tells me that we will find young Owen," Virts said.  "But, my experience in law enforcement, what I've seen and interviews I've seen personally, I believe this will be a recovery."

The boy's mother, Selena, was found dead Wednesday.  She had been wrapped in plastic, and was hidden near their home on Joy Road.Her boyfriend, Alberto Ebarado Gutierrez-Reyes has been charged with evidence tampering, but not with Selena's death.

Sheriff Virts also said this afternoon they've recovered a phone that they believe belongs to Reyes, and are now trying to collect evidence from it.

==========================

Authorities have issued an Amber Alert for Owen Hidalgo-Calderon -- the 14th month old Sodus boy who has been missing since he and his mother vanished last week.

His mother's body was found Wednesday wrapped in plastic and hidden under branches -- not far from her home on Joy Road.

The Amber Alert says Owen needs asthma medication, and was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe he is in imminent danger of serious physical harm and/or death.
