U of R Changing Policy: Faculty Cannot Date Students

The University of Rochester will now become the second university in the nation to ban intimate relationships between most faculty and students. Stanford University is the first in the country to adopt the standard. The changes come after sexual harassment allegations involving the conduct or Professor Florian Jaeger.  That investigation, conducted by former US Attorney Mary Jo White, found Jaeger engaged in behavior that was, "inappropriate, unprofessional and offensive" dating back to 2007.  The conduct included sexual relationships with former, current and prospective students. The behavior did not violate university policy at the time.  Seven faculty members and a graduate student are suing the university of its handling of the case. Jaeger apologized for his behavior and will return to the classroom in the fall.
