The number of flu deaths this season in Monroe County has climbed to 16.
Numbers just out for the week ending March 31 show there were 414 new cases in the county -- the biggest weekly total since late February.
That brings the total for the season to more than 6,600 -- more than twice as many as last year. All 16 of those who died were over age 50.
