Plea Deal Offered to Nunda Man Accused of Beating Infant

A Nunda man accused of breaking a two-month old son’s skull and fracturing 11 ribs was offered a plea deal that could spare him a life sentence.  Brock Hyde, 35, was offered 7-years for each count totaling 14 years in state prison. Hyde is charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Reckless Assault of a Child, both felonies. Livingston County District Attorney Greg McCaffrey says if Hyde does not accept the deal he will seek out a sentence based upon persistent felony status. If convicted at trial Hyde could face 15 years to life in prison. Hyde has been arrested several times including six years ago when he fled police on a high speed chase that originated in Dansville and ended in Mount Morris.
